Case No. 19

CAFE & DINER FOURTH CAFE · LONG BEACH, CA · UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

MANAGER NO. 4

What was meant to be a simple order ended up being quite a bit of trouble after all. I guess we should have seen that coming. Everyone is fine. No. 512 needs time to recover. She got the worst of it, along with the Teal Room. I'll pay No. 17 for the fixes needed… assuming such a room can be fixed. As for No. 512, she should wake up in a day or two. Despite the service quickly getting out of hand, No. 512 did indeed "let loose" a little and, well, dined Italian with Mrs. Brown.

Seeing as Mrs. Brown was married, having her tab paid in full wasn't necessarily the worst outcome possible. I know that's not our preferred method of customer satisfaction, but she didn't give No. 512 much choice, did she? Additionally, Mrs. Brown liked to dance, and those who want to dance aren't typically "welcomed guests" of our Green Tea Distributor. Of course, she always preferred a glass of Orange Juice. Again, that's not how we like to perform our customer satisfaction. It would've been Green Tea or a tab paid in full. And if she got that Green Tea? I'm sure our Green Tea Distributor would've paid for her tab for her regardless.

I am uncertain if Mrs. Brown will be replaced by another eager dancer. She's been a staple in New Orleans for quite some time, and her presence will surely be missed by those who drink OJ. Of course, without the original OJ Distributor around, I doubt we'll see a replacement for Mrs. Brown any time soon. It gives the debaucherous revelers of the Big Easy a little breathing room in the meantime. Though speaking of eager dancers, it's worth noting that this upcoming Friday happens to fall on the 13th.

That's all.

Goddammit. We have to go through this, what, like 3 times a year? Still?! I am so sick of Mrs. Weekend. Oh, "It's Friday, it's Friday we all go out to play." You know what? She needs to get a life. It's over. We won. The Temple is gone. What is the point of trying to reserve a table with us now? Every 13th, we have to stop everything we're doing just to reject her reservation request. Well, great. Awesome. I guess we're going to be forced to sell our coffee outside for a day. I guess it'll give us a chance to get some more information on Mrs. Ogeron, at least.

At this point, I'm not even sure what her problem is with us. I mean, yes, we took her eye. So what? She has like 20 eyes. Or, well, 13. WELL, 12. Cuz we stole one. She doesn't need them all, and… well, at this point, I don't even know where her plundered eye would be. It wouldn't be HERE of all places. So why doesn't she scrounge around the ashes of the old location? It's probably somewhere in that rubble. It's one eye. ONE. Mrs. Weekend just needs to get over it.

Sorry… It's just Mrs. Weekend annoys me to no end. It's like a bad ex. Ever since the Twice Third Temple fell, it just feels like she's bored and taking out that boredom on us. That or we struck a special nerve or, should I say eye. It might be worth finding it once we get back to California, although I'm not sure how safe the old location is after the "fire." Or if it even survived all of… that.

Ah, crap. Friday, again? Already? It seems like it comes around so fast every time. Well, this sucks, as it means 512 can't stay in the Manor to recover. I guess she could stay there. It's not like Mrs. Weekend can really do anything to her… but we don't want to make poor 512's recovery any slower than it already seems to be going? So, option-wise, we could always just book a hotel, you know, like tourists do. However, I worry about the implications of a chronically passed out and quite gory-looking 18-year-old girl staying alone with me in a hotel room. Plus, hotels are filled with hallways, and that is Mrs. Weekend's main jam.

Plus, what if 512 wakes up and… I don't know, freaks out? Goes, feral, or something? She is… well, you know, not exactly normal. Plus, she's never been out this long. I'd personally feel a bit safer if we had somewhere we could take her so that she would be safe and, should she wake up in a sorta "zombie rage," be taken care of. Not like the tab paid in full, but the hat hung up by the door. Unfortunately, we aren't exactly… liked by the coffee scene here. From what I've gathered, 17 and his whole family is regarded as "taboo." And as we are associated with him, we are taboo too.

Luckily, 17's family didn't burn EVERY bridge here, and he's seeing if 512 and I can stay with another one of the old families of New Orleans, the Ramses. Despite the Blackwood's history here, the Ramses have always been close allies of theirs, and they should be well equipped to take care of 512. Plus, the Ramses are apparently appreciative of the heads-up about Mrs. Weekend being in town. They have some history with him as well and would rather stay outside, if possible.

Well, I suppose it is that time again. It should be standard procedure at this point for most of you from the Third Cafe. As it is Mrs. Weekend's favorite of days, please remain outdoors until Saturday. If you have to go inside, make sure to stick to the main rooms and double up in the hallways. As I understand it, she can only begin her hunt in a hallway, but once she's on you, you'll only be safe once you're outside again. While we can't be certain Mrs. Weekend will follow us all the way to Blackwood Manor, we should be cautious, nonetheless. Also, don't assume spaces outside of the manor will be safe either. Manager No. 5 has volunteered to keep Mrs. Weekend busy and out of trouble.

So! It would seem today is a day best spent outdoors. Shame we missed Mardi Gras as Lent is much less fun and debaucherous, but there are still many sights to see in the Big Easy. And while we're outdoors, it's a great chance to set up a sort of popup Cafe near the theater where Mrs. Ogeron works. I'm not sure if caverns count as hallways, so stick outside just to be safe. Or, if you don't want to scope out Mrs. Ogeron, take the day off, perhaps. Might as well seize this rare opportunity for some rest and relaxation.

Truly, if things outside stay calm. It might be nice to just grab a cup of coffee and relax. A real cup of coffee. Take some time to remember those we've lost along the way and be thankful for those we still have with us. Also, please make sure to buy No. 5 a pint tomorrow. Just because he is quite possibly our most skilled barista doesn't mean dealing with Mrs. Weekend for a whole day isn't hard work for him.

Yours on Saturday,

A Day After Sunday

We finally got our pop-up shop set up near the theater off of Algiers. No sign of Mrs. Ogeron yet, but we're pretty sure this is the right place. The Managers are discussing our next steps, though it's likely we're going to be paying Mrs. Ogeron a visit soon. Having scoped out the area around the theater a bit, it seems pretty extensive. A very… underground sort of scene. This is what we were expecting, though it's certainly worth a walk around to check it out. But, of course, don't forget to stretch, as you don't want to be black and bruised, bae. I'm not sure how much walking we can do, but swimming can also be somewhat enjoyable.

As for Ogeron herself, we're expecting a light Italian breakfast if we do deliver directly to her. Of course, we don't personally serve Italian, but we can't help her natural cravings. Our primary goal is to find and grab the Pearl, but I think we can settle for just getting a feel for this rather strange customer. It's not often we serve Old Fashioneds, and even when we do, they usually come to us. We don't go to them.

And diner-speak aside, I just wanted to thank everyone for helping scope out the place yesterday. I know it's never fun to have to play outside for an entire Friday. And while I feel like we would normally have paid Mrs. Ogeron a visit unannounced if we could have, it was probably for the best to hang back for a and observe a bit. Between all that we don't know about Quebec and with Mrs. Ogeron being an elderly customer… it's hard to say what we're in for. I know 116 has probably dealt with worse, and the Florida Cafe dealt with more than their fair share of ancient customers, but still—it's always nice to take a breather. Even if only for a day.
