EMPLOYEE #17

Ah, Mr. White. A rather peculiar purveyor of coffee accessories and paraphernalia. He is also a connection I have yet to have the personal pleasure of making. Which, as you can imagine, bothers me deeply. The problem with Mr. White is he can be rather difficult to track down. He sells himself as a force of nature more than a reputable dealer of goods. He shows up, distributes his coffee gear, and then gets out of town before the tourists get burnt trying to brew their own coffee.

Mr. White is a rather tragic figure, as I understand it. Grew up across the pond and entered the coffee game after a horrible accident at his factory. Ever since he got a generous worker’s compensation of 200 or so pounds, he’s put quite an effort into gathering strange and unusual coffee knick-knacks and the sort. You might be thinking, what book did you read this out of, Secret? And to that, I must admit, some authors lean more on fact than fiction, and we can leave it there.

Now, due to the more than unusual entrance into the coffee market, Mr. White is not actually established up North. Not entirely. No, he is a special associate of the beloved coffee-peddling priest, Padre Santos. I believe the two of them have spent many afternoons indulging in sandwiches as they discuss business. And while most of Padre’s sandwich friends prefer to stay in the States, Mr. White splits his lunchtime, I believe, between 2 and 3 o’clock, flying into the States as he pleases.

I’ve been looking into Mr. White for some time now, mostly to establish a connection with him, but now there is good reason to believe he might be in league with Mrs. Umbra. Which bumps him up to “priority service.” I’ll see if I can finally pin him down this time, as I have too much on the line to let him slip past me again. Oh, yes, and also for the kids or whatever.
