I'm sorry. I can't just act like Victoria didn't just die. You know, this isn't even the first employee of mine who has died, but this time… this time, it's different. When Tyler died, we knew that he probably went to a better place. But with Vic? Damn. It's not even comparable. But, I know, it's not my place to talk about that sort of stuff. Not right now, anyway. So, instead, I'll talk about who Victoria was and what she meant to me, personally.

So, Victoria Ward joined the Third Cafe, my Cafe, along with No. 323 and Brent, at the request of Miranda. I went to school with Miranda, though she was a year behind me. Though I have no idea how Miranda knew Victoria. Victoria was only 19 when she joined the Third Cafe, and Miranda must have been around 25 at the time. Well, then again, Miranda was always making connections. In any case, I suppose they must have been pretty close, seeing as Victoria, Brent, and Miranda formed the "Triple Threat" of the Third Cafe. See, Victoria was special, as I'm sure you all know by now. She had a unique set of skills that set her apart from the other Managers of my Cafe. Though she had trouble controlling her skills, and Miranda and Brent were good at keeping her grounded.

Of course, Miranda and Brent later left the Cafe and Diner, but Victoria stuck around. Victoria always felt at home with the Cafe and Diner, and we loved having her. It was always a treat to see which sitcom quote she chose to open her receipts with. And even though we ended up working at different Cafes, her at Palm Beach and me and the rest of the Third Cafe (minus 323) at Long Island, she still texted me at least once a day, and we called at least once a week. Now? Nothing. Silence. No more fun quotes. No more Victoria. And I know things as a Manager that maybe not everyone else knows, but it doesn't change the pain of losing another employee, another ally, another dear acquaintance of the coffee trade.
