Subject: The Dead

If we are being watched by this "Host of the Dead," I'll be the first to say it: good. Nothing like a fresh connection to be made, especially with such an interesting lot of people. Sure, they are terrifying. Potentially rather sinister too. I don't doubt that. But if you only bother to connect with those whose company you enjoy you will simply get nowhere in life and that is a fact.

Moreover, they are more than just a singular simple connection—they are a host, yes? A network. A multitude of connections which will easily allow me, and by virtue of proxy the rest of the Cafe, to start carving out some real meaningful Otherworldly connections.

Not only that, they are likely to be free agents, Amber's rambling conspiracy theories aside. If they were truly working with Greed himself, we would have known by now, don't you think? And if they are working with Greed? It's high time we figured that out. But assuming they are an unaligned entity of sufficient autonomy, that could be extremely valuable as far as connections go. Connections are the beating heart of our survival as a species. We are social animals and I suspect the residents here are no different.

I intend to shake every hand this place has, living, dead, or otherwise.

Katherine already has a foot in their world, whether she wishes to acknowledge it or not. That's leverage. That's conversation. That's a door left ajar for me to poke my head into and to leave a card. Of course… I am not so foolish as to make a connection with an angry hornet's nest or a goose with a gosling in tow. I'll need back up. Katherine, sure. As I mentioned she already has their attention and should things take a turn for the worse, she's nigh indestructible. But—Katherine is still green to the game. I would feel much more comfortable with another experienced barista with us, someone with fewer nerves and more grit. Maybe Victoria. Maybe Julius. Maybe… Hm… I don't know. I don't know who among us is the most fearless of the unknown and potentially unkillable.

Hm.
