So.
You got her.
Didn’t expect that.
I don’t know Mags personally, no. But I know of her. Her family lineage is rather well known. In fact, I've met her brother once or twice. Strange and sorry man. He carries an unimaginable guilt on his shoulders which weighs his soul down to the very depths of Hell itself. I’ve taken his confession, more than once, but I fear not even God could give him absolution.
He did speak of his other siblings though, and that’s how I’ve heard of Miss Mags. He claimed all of his siblings were cursed to carried the burdens of their lineage, and that Mags, she carries the burden of motion. When she moves the air changes, the winds blow, and she can never stay in one place for too long because of it.
I thought he was being poetic. Maybe he was. But now I’ve seen her. And now I understand.
I won’t ask how you pulled her into your little corner of the world, Ginny. I’ve learned better than to question your luck, or your leverage. But… I do wonder if you’re hedging your bets?
You’re not a woman who plays a card without knowing where it fits in the deck. And if you brought a dancer like Mags into this place, at this moment, just before the bridge begins to groan and the lake begins to whisper, then I have to wonder:
Is this about filling a slot on the marquee?
Or are you warding the building from within—seeking the protection of a higher power?
If it’s the latter, well... clever. And I wouldn’t blame you. It’s a smart move, and a decent enough guardian, if you can stir them to action. If it’s not, then you’re more of a conductor than I gave you credit for because the people who show up at St. Valentine’s lately aren’t here for the gin and you know that.
You always did know how to pull in the right kind of broken. Let’s just hope we are all able to break away from what’s coming.
