Subject: Business as Usual
We're back in Long Beach! It's sort of weird to be back after all this time. I mean, I grew up in Glendale, so not really Long Beach, but I did at least work at the Church Cafe for a bit. Then again, we spent a lot of that year bouncing around, and then after that, I went to work for the Palm Beach Location. So… I don't have as many memories tied to this place. But I can tell it's hitting Kyle, Mikey, and Amber pretty hard. We'll stop by where the Third Cafe used to be to pay our respects to Tyler and Charlotte, and then we'll try and find where Jackie and Rachel live these days.
Kyle and Mikey sort of filled us in on what happened. From what they know, there was a pretty bad fire that burned down Jackie and Julia's apartment in Long Island. After that, Jackie moved back to Long Beach with Rachel, and they've been sort of M.I.A. since. Kyle tried reaching out to Jackie every day for around three months before finally giving up. The only lead we really have is Rachel might've kept her CaDCom with her, so we should still be able to ping its location. However, we're going to worry about doing that tomorrow.
There's a good chance neither of them want anything to do with the Cafe and Diner. And even if we aren't necessarily the Cafe and Diner if you take all of the employees from the Cafes and put them back together… it's sort of the same thing, isn't it? But, at the very least, we can try! If we're going to go all the way to the Black Thorn for Joy, it feels like the least we can do is go down the coast for Jackie and Rachel, too.
