Olympus

Geography

One of the four cardinal planes of the Otherworld, Olympus is by far the largest cardinal plane encompassing the very peaks of Mount Olympus down to the very depths of the Chthonic Underworld. By most accounts, Olympus (the plane) resembles a fantastical representation of an ancient Mediterranean region with parallels. The most notable landmark is, of course, Mount Olympus and the realm of the Greco-Roman Gods, Olympus itself. There are smaller wild regions filled with harpies, nymphs, and centaurs. Then, following the River Styx, the Underworld can be found, home to the Chthonic Gods and their respective creatures.

Another region presumed to exist somewhere in Olympus would be the prison of Tartarus, home to the forsaken Titans. Though where exactly Tartarus is hidden remains a mystery for now. It can be assumed it lies somewhere beneath the Underworld, though when the Cafe and Diner last visited the Underworld, there were no signs of the fabled prison. Additionally, all known ways into Olympus led to the Underworld instead of Mount Olympus itself. As of yet, there are no known ways to escape the Underworld, and as such, the Cafe and Diner have never seen the upper part of Olympus.

Mythology

Olympus draws its mythology from Greco-Roman mythology, including the Titans, Gods, Demigods, Heroes, and creatures. It can also be theorized that some other Mediterranean myths and legends shape Olympus, but without being able to leave the Underworld, the full extent of Olympus’ mythology remains unknown.

Rulers

The current ruler of the Underworld and the Olympian pantheon is Nyx, the Goddess of Night. It is unclear how Nyx came into power, though there have been rumors that Zeus is currently trapped in Tartarus for unknown reasons. Still, there seems to be little upset at the rule of Nyx amongst the other Gods and Goddesses.
