I've taken an interest in young 35's strange dreams. I know there was some concern about whether or not Mrs. Umbra was paying our colleague a visit, but I don't believe this is the case. Mrs. Umbra isn't much of a dreamer herself. She prefers a more active approach. And considering whatever it is that plagued 35's dreams also woke her up in a fright, it is safe to say it's not Mrs. Umbra. Not this time. But if we could have a... sleep study, of sorts, perhaps I could study her sleeping patterns. Although I know it can be hard to fall asleep in a clinical setting, so perhaps an herbal tea is in order.
I'll need Valerian Root, Chamomile, Corn Flowers, and Peppermint. A fairly simple shopping list, but it might still take a few days or weeks to find the proper ingredients. From what I could find in the yellow pages, most of these herbs can be found at Carroll's Naturalist Pharmacy. I've never personally been there, but it shouldn't be too hard to find. The recipe is straightforward, first the Valerian Root, something I am familiar with. Then the Chamomile should be... well, not too hard to work with. Then the Corn Flowers are something I can figure out by taste. Oh, and of course, there is Peppermint to worry about.
While I am more than happy to make this blend myself, there is, perhaps, a more skilled tea artisan than myself. Perhaps the Owner would rather take the reins on this? Of course, I'll be assisting through the whole process, but I can't say for certain what lurks within 35's dreams. There is a good chance that whatever secrets would be uncovered at our sleep study would be better kept by the Owner. Of course, there is a slight problem with this plan. While I already know how to work with Valerian Root and (more or less) Chamomile, the Owner, to my knowledge, has not worked with these ingredients before. Well, at least not Chamomile. Ultimately it is up to him. But perhaps her dreams can help us better understand the Owner's own affliction.

THE OWNER
Well, that was harrowing, wasn't it? Mrs. Pleasant attempted to cause quite the scene in our little Cafe and Diner, but that's just like her. Thankfully, we were more than able to satisfy her late-night cravings. Well, if you consider E:30 or so to be "late night." More of an evening snack. Regardless, our service was top-notch, and I can only assume she'll be giving us a glowing review. A review so good it has to catch our clerical competition's eye.
In that spirit, I think it is high time we have some rules of conduct for the Cafe and Diner. We need to keep our service top-notch, and after the month we've had, it's probably for the best. I know you all aren't necessarily one for "rules," but I suppose you can think of them as guidelines at best. Well, except for rules 1, 7, 9, and 13. Those rules are indeed rule-rules. Although, I hope you've all been following rule 1 already.
Cafe and Diner Rules
Rule #1: All Employees must wash their hands
Rule #2: Coffee is NOT to be served in the Cafe
Rule #3: Friends are expected, patrons are welcome
Rule #4: We are CLOSED in August
Rule #5: We do not care where you park your cars
Rule #6: Do not park your cars in a Red Zone
Rule #7: The next number does not exist
Rule #9: So stop looking for it
Rule #10: Pumpkin Spice rots your teeth
Rule #11: Rules are meant to be broken
Rule #12: A quiet day is a good day
Rule #13: Smile, you're on camera
Now, of course, these rules are only intended for the Diner. The Cafe has its own set of rules which you can find in the Cafe. Keep in mind rule 2. As for our next moves concerning the Open Doors Church, I expect next month to be a rather important one for them. However, thanks to our outstanding service last night, I don't expect them to make any major moves yet. Though we still need to figure out what exactly Padre's little red book entails, and according to Mr. Gray, Mr. Walker knows more about it. Finding him might prove, well, challenging, but for once, I think I've beaten 17 to a source. I'll keep you all updated.
Happy end of September,
Rule #7
