Excellent news! I was able to get in touch with the friends I mentioned yesterday, and they are both on board to be baristas for the brand-new Cafe and Diner! So, I’d like to officially welcome the team, Vanilla and Peppermint! I figured we could all be different flavors of syrups. While I don’t hate how the Original Cafe and Diner named their employees… it just didn’t feel like the right vibe for our new Cafe. I feel like fun code names are always a little more interesting than “Employee No…” And it’ll help us stand apart from our former iteration a bit.
Vanilla will be handling our general tech support and information systems. Peppermint will be in charge of late-night shifts and ensuring the Cafe is stocked with comfort food. While I’ve done my best to get these CaDComs up and running again, I’m certain Vanilla can spruce them up a bit more… and maybe work out the kinks while she’s at it. And while I know bits and pieces of the coffee trade… I can’t help but feel like my knowledge is… lacking in more ways than one. Thankfully, Peppermint is very, very knowledgeable about all things coffee!
Interestingly (and perhaps not entirely by coincidence), both Vanilla and Peppermint were almost employees of the Original Cafe and Diner. Of course, they weren’t, seeing as they are still… you know, alive. But I know Vanilla was being mentored by one of the Cafe employees, and Peppermint was occasionally called on for his talent of finding hidden connections and his less-than-orthodox theories. So, I don’t think there could be better employees to start off with! They already know the usual Cafe procedures and vernacular, and who could ask for more?
