The ██████ gave away more than it meant to.

So, Lord █████ has called the Old Orders together. That much is clear. But the why, that's what I can't see yet. It doesn't add up, does it? The █████ were sent to kill Finch. Finch was trying to kill Nickels. Nickels… he might be the one to raise Gallowsbridge from beneath the waves. █████, according to the ██████, doesn't want the city to return. So, why would he send out his most skilled assassins to stop the concurrent assassination of the one who'll bring back the other half of the ████ City? Something █████ allegedly wants no part of?

Here is what I know:

The Order of the Eternal █████ never act without purpose. They don't swarm without a light to burn toward. If Finch was marked, it means he was about to shine too bright. Of course, the █████ themselves don't care too much for who they are tasked to kill, only that they kill them. If █████ really has called upon all of the Old Orders of ████, then he also called upon the Order of the █████████████, and they would know if Finch was about to shine brighter than he was ever meant to. I suppose you two may not be quite as familiar with the Old Orders of ████? There are six that I know of, though I have heard rumor of a seventh.

First, and most well-known are the Twin ████████, the Orders of the Eternal ██████ and █████. The █████ are silent, pale-eyed killers. ██████████████ touched by prophecy. They follow something only they can see, something they refer to as the ██████████. It is rare for one to speak, though I have managed a confession out of one in my time. They are skilled assassins and possess powerful ██████ of paranoia and fear.

On the other side of the ████████ are the ██████. Children of █████████. Naturally they are Ouroborian ██████ but also ███████. Rare. Exceptionally so. █████████ almost never took mates. Almost. The ██████, as such, appear more human than reptilian, and tend to blend in among human populations here in the ████████, guiding the course of █████████████ as ███████████ do. Their bloodline is entwined with the █████—but more than that, I would only be speculating upon.

Then there are the less well-known Orders: the Order of the ███████████████, the Order of the ██████████████, the Order of the ████████████████, and Order of the ██████████████. The ███████████████ were once wardens of something or other, a prison older than the ██████████. The ██████████████ are not ██████ per se, nor are they ██████. They are humans. Humans who bartered their █████████ in exchange for the never-ending job of ensuring certain ███████ lie buried in the Earth. They would likely be well aware of how exactly Gallowsbridge is concealed beneath Lake Michigan. The ████████████████ is an Order of ██████, beyond that I wouldn’t claim to know much about them. And lastly, the ██████████████. Horrible, terrible, foul warmakers. They are not ██████, nor ██████, nor humans, nor anything else of this world. The less said of them, the better.

If the Old Orders are gathering again, if they even all still exist, then █████ holds some grave concern over the return of Gallowsbridge.

As do I.
