I’ve been… watching Jenny.
Not in a weird way. Just… keeping an eye on her. She’s been quiet, distant. Her fingers keep fidgeting like she’s turning some invisible dial that won’t lock in.
She's frustrated.
And I get it.
I mean, you'd have to be a total bone head not to get it based on her most recent receipt. I don’t think she was deflecting either. I think this ████████████ thing has really gotten under her skin. I've never had ████████████. Never even really had a "First" Sight either. My job's always been paperwork. I mean, sure, I know my way around the Coffee Trade, but I've never been particularly… inclined to the darker roasts. But I know what it's like to lose the thing that made you feel sharp. The thing that made you feel like you mattered.
And I've… gotten to know Jenny over the past month or so. And so when she says she's going to find this "███████████," I believe her.
That's what worries me.
She's hurting. And she's trying not to show it. Not to me, not to you, not to anyone. From what I understand, she was in a good headspace the first time, when she found a way to get her ████████████. She was younger, a little dumber, but was high on the exhilaration of uncovering new unfound potential within herself. Now… she's not in a good headspace. She's not trying to find unfound potential. She's trying to pry it back from some cosmic unknown.
I'm not going to try and stop her. And as far as I understand how the Cafe works, neither will any of you. It's not the Cafe's "way." But man… ████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████████?
Whatever. If it gets serious enough I would hope Jackie would step in. Or Jean-Marc. Or, any of the "managers" really.
